Remembering

9-11-01

The day the World changed for us Americans. There was relative peace in the US before 9-11. We hadn’t been engaged in any meaningful combat since Gulf War 1 under George Bush41. Before that we had disposed of Panama Dictator Noriega in 1989 and rescued hostages/students in Grenada back in 1986(+/-).

We have had major deployments of our forces in constant imminent danger for the past 10+ years in two separate theaters (areas of conflict) WHILE maintaining High Alert peaceful military presence elsewhere in the world.

We had 3000 people killed on 9-11-01. The cost of avenging their deaths have been steep. Our victories have been many and the justification true. The heroes that are on the front line understand the reasons and most do not want to see a job half done.

We can’t build a perfect world or nation out of the shambles that have been Iraq and Afghanistan, but we can hope to provide the peoples of those countries a chance… A chance at a life without fear of persecution or retribution. A life more liberated in education and the prospects of girls attaining what their mothers dared not pray for. A future for boys where they are not relegated as fodder for vendettas and foolish grudges. A chance where they are limited by their BRAINS, and not what hollow notion their leaders might institute at a moments notice.

We can honor the victims of 9-11 and our fallen soldiers by giving our all here at home as they have truly given all 6000 miles from home.

I am still of the opinion that we are there with the hopes of planting the seed of Freedom in the desert of perpetual conflict that is the middle east. Odds and history are stacked against the goal. But what if no one had stood up 236 years ago for us?

Embrace today and love your family.

Thank a vet.

“Todd,
Great article. It’s well written and speaks the truth. Someday soon, I hope to be back down range and I will share this with all of my Soldiers.

J”

That compliment means the world to me.
